The Professional Side
Kate Holmes, CFP®
I love laughing and traveling and do each as often as possible.
After graduating from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia with a BA in Photography, I returned to the Pacific Northwest to work for an investment management firm (totally natural transition, right?). I became a Certified Financial Planner and worked my way up to being a shareholder.
After almost eight years, I left to launch Belmore to usher in the next generation of financial planning. I decided not to manage assets, and have never sold financial products, so clients are assured there are no conflicts of interest.
I am excited to join Belmore and further the mission of making financial planning accessible to everyone, regardless of net worth. I come to Belmore with a long history of working in finance and financial services, specifically 15+ years in corporate finance for startups and small businesses. After years of working on the corporate side of things, I decided to pursue a desire to help actual people rather than a bottom line. I completed the courses for a Certificate in Financial Planning and passed the CFP® Board Exam in March 2014.
The Real Side
When I'm not working with clients, I can usually be found talking about the future of the industry, what a great career this is for women, chatting with the media, traveling, drinking wine or eating popcorn.
My passions outside of work are many and wide-ranging. I love running (everything from relay races to marathons to trail races), playing soccer, being outdoors whenever possible, globe-trotting with my husband and two girls, eating exotic foods, and experimenting in the kitchen. I'm a card shark, love puzzles of any kind, and can often be found curled up with a book.
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, CFP® (with plaque design) and CFP® (with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements.
